Cosmetic makeup is a necessity for a lot of women as it is a part of who they are and helps how they feel about themselves. It is a part of a daily routine which includes choosing clothes to wear, and hair styling plus it can be reflective of the levels of self esteem someone feels. This must be one of the main answers to the question why do women wear makeup, as to us, it’s as important to feel as good on the inside as we look on the outside and makeup is a big contributing factor to a lot of women.

Reasons change as to why women wear cosmetic makeup though, as when I was a teenager, I was wearing makeup up because I wanted to fit in, plus I wanted to look older than I was and feel grown up. But these days I wear makeup, obviously because of self esteem, but also because I feel that I need to in order to make my eyes look more alert and less tired than what they really are for example. So effectively I am starting to cover the signs of everyday issues such as lack of sleep, plus sign of ageing as I wear foundation to try and reduce some wrinkles!

Maybe wearing cosmetic makeup is a big circle as when you are a teenager you want to be grown up and get served in the pubs, whereas now, we are trying to slow down and cover the signs of ageing (and pray that we get ID-ed in the pub for looking 18 or less!)

My final review of a cheap make up product in the foundation range is The Body Shops Moisturise Foundation. They say that the foundation is a lightweight moisturising, long-lasting liquid foundation, with SPF 15, that provides light to medium coverage with a flawless finish. This all sounds great but let’s see how my skin likes it!

This foundation is quite runny or more so than the last two cheap make up foundations I reviewed. It generally covers well but I find that imperfections you really want hidden will need to be covered with a concealer beforehand, which is kind of a pain as you feel that you are overloading your skin with products.

I applied this foundation with a sponge as it was a bit too runny for my fingers. It is easily blended and offers enough coverage without looking caked on or at all obvious. The biggest problem I found was that it left my skin feeling quite oily as it feels like the foundation never really dries properly. It does give a very smooth and even look at first, but if you happen to sweat slightly you can end up feeling really oily.

If your skin needs moisture a lot throughout the day, The Body Shop’s cheap make up foundation is exactly what you need, as, like it says on the tin (or the bottle!) it aims to give your skin that rehydration it needs. It can be found on their website for £11.70 with up to 6% cashback.

The second review of our cheap make up products today is Avon’s Ideal Shade Liquid Foundation. Avon is an institution in the make up world as it has been around for years! They specialise in selling brilliant cheap make up that is great quality. Avon says that this foundation is “Silky smooth, radiant formula softens the look of lines, wrinkles and pores, and the buildable medium coverage lets you conceal imperfections for a flawless finish”. As foundation is the base for the rest of your make up it is paramount that it matches your skin colour and looks even, otherwise the rest of your make up can end up looking odd and dishevelled! Avon’s cheap make up foundation has 10 shades, from creamy natural to soft honey.

The foundation goes on smoothly and covers great without leaving any uneven patches, plus it was easy to blend in with my fingers. Seeing that there are so many choices in the shade you choose, there is no reason for it not to match your skin tone, unless you have a very dark skin colour. The foundation is so light that it doesn’t actually feel like I am wearing foundation which is pretty good as a lot of foundations can feel heavy on my skin and feel like they are weighing it down!

Overall, another great foundation. The only slight downside to it was that the smell was quite intense. However I am quite sensitive to smells so could be for that reason that I found it strong, but still, I don’t know if I could wear it all day every day like some other non scented foundations.
